Ingredients
For the filling
  • 50ml sunflower oil
  • 1kg diced beef
  • 500g onions, diced
  • 500g carrots, diced
  • 600g mushrooms, diced
  • 400ml ale
  • 1ltr water
  • 50g MAGGI® Original gravy
For the pie
  • 640g puff pastry
  • 100g eggs, beaten
Preparation

    For the filling: Heat half the oil in a saucepan, then add the meat in batches and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.

    Pour the remaining oil into the saucepan and add the vegetables. Sweat for 10 minutes.

    Return the beef to the pan, then deglaze the pan with the ale. Pour in the water and bring to a simmer.

    Cover with foil or a lid and cook for 2 hours at 350°F (176.6°C) or until the beef is tender. Then add the MAGGI® Original gravy to thicken.

    To finish: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Spoon the beef into pie dishes, top with puff pastry, then brush with egg.

    Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
