Dark Kitchens

What is a dark kitchen?

A dark kitchen or ghost kitchen is an “off-premise” kitchen with no bricks and mortar venue for customers to visit.

These kitchens are creating a new ecosystem of food preparation and delivery, designed to cater directly to online customers through delivery aggregators such as Just Eat, Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

What are the advantages of a dark kitchen?

Dark kitchens allow operators to run a brand with lower capital investment, whilst providing a quick and efficient route to market. Focusing on convenience, the ghost kitchen business model offers great quality food at a fast pace to customers.

How is NESCAFÉ® working with dark kitchens?

We did a 3-month trial using the NESCAFÉ® Revenue Share model with a dark kitchen partner. This was a key test and learn for Nestlé Professional, showing a dark kitchen as a completely new workplace, and one that NESCAFÉ® can play a role in to improve work breaks for employees.

Most employers understand the importance of human connection, yet there’s still a lack of understanding around the link between meaningful work conversations, wellbeing and employee engagement.

NESCAFÉ® is helping businesses to support meaningful coffee breaks with valuable coffee break resources.
