The Nestlé Cocoa Plan was initiated in 2009 and has positively impacted over 150,000 cocoa-farming families to date. The plan is founded on three key principles:
- Better farming, aiming to improve livelihoods in communities.
- Better lives, aiming to improve social conditions for families.
- And Better cocoa, aiming to improve product sustainability.
Our Cocoa Partner Organisations
We collaborate closely with partner organisations that bring expertise to measure and evaluate the impact of the activities we implement across key areas such as forest protection and restoration, the livelihoods of cocoa-farming families, community development, and access to education.
Together, our aim is to build a brighter future for cocoa-farming families and ensure the sustainable production of quality cocoa. Through this collaboration, we are able to assess and enhance the effectiveness of our initiatives, driving positive change and sustainable development in these vital areas. Read more.
The Income Accelerator Program
As part of an innovative family-centred initiative, the income accelerator programme is an innovative family-centred initiative that offers a unique approach to help farmers and their families steadily and sustainably build economic stability. Building on the long standing work of the Nestle Cocoa Plan, the programme enables, incentivises, and ultimately rewards practices that enhance crop productivity and secure additional sources of income for the farmers and their families. These efforts are aimed at closing the gap to living income and protecting children. The programme focuses on closing the living income gap and reducing child labour risks by encouraging behavioural changes and rewarding positive practices within the home and on the farm. It also rewards cocoa-farming families for practices that benefit the environment and the local community. Learn more
Our Challenges and Social Impacts of our Cocoa Production
We want to provide transparency on the impact we make and the challenges we face, allowing us to learn and improve along the way. These results delivered in our sustainable cocoa journey would not be possible without the support of our partners, suppliers and, our teams on the field and of course the engagement of the cocoa-farming families we work with.
