Over the past few years, the foodservice industry has undergone significant change. All aiming to promote a more sustainable and effective approach to better sustainability in the food service industry and better economic value to businesses. This is why the footprint sustainability awards were created. To give notice to those who are doing their best to work towards a more sustainable future.
What are the footprint awards?
The Footprint Awards gives organisations the opportunity to show their customers and the foodservice industry the steps they have taken to contribute to the sustainability of the industry and planet.
The Footprint awards provides a chance to start creating a new future, a more sustainable legacy in the food industry. They are the only awards scheme that are completely dedicated to sustainability in the foodservice, and the awards have very specific objectives. The footprint sustainability awards are created to focus on learning, transparency, and cooperation of businesses. They want to highlight the available opportunities and give the encouragement that is needed for every grower, supplier, manufacturer and partner to enable them to fully embrace a sustainable way of working.
The footprint sustainability awards open up doors to a domino effect and to showcase the best application and showcase that a sustainable business is the best way forward.
The Footprint Awards for consumers
The footprint sustainability awards aren’t just to recognise the efforts that businesses are making to push a more sustainable way of working, but also carry a responsibility to the consumers. The consumers are influential when it comes to sustainable living.
The footprint awards highlight this, as they care about what the consumer does day-to-day. They buy with a conscience when they go to the supermarket, caring for the environment is becoming every present in everyday life and is starting to play a large role in people’s lifestyle. In the comfort of the consumers home, the reuse and recycle, as well as making a conscious effort to reduce waste, as well as making the choice to purchase environmentally friendly products. However, it seems that this sustainable focus shifts when eating out.
The footprint awards want to highlight that the focus isn’t given to the impact and attitudes of restaurants on the environment and overall sustainability.
The Footprint sustainability awards 2022: Nestlé Professional achievements
Great news, our contribution to the sustainability of the foodservice industry gains recognition!
Through the First Milk partnership, the milk used in our Out of Home and Retail products* comes from a cooperative of over 80 farmers, with whom Nestlé has been working with since 2015 to implement a long term sustainability programme. They are a crucial part of our UK supply chain, and we work closely with them on regenerative agriculture practices that protect and restore the natural resources such as soil, water and biodiversity.
This fantastic work won the top spot at last week’s Footprint Awards 2022 in the Sustainable use of Natural Resources category.
Robin Sundaram (Responsible Sourcing Manager) collected the award on Thursday 9th June, adding: “It’s fantastic to get this external recognition for all the hard work that our teams have put into our partnership with First Milk. A massive thank you to our farmers who have implemented great initiatives to help us improve our social and environmental impact.”
We’re incredibly proud to see not only the win for Nestlé Professional (NP) in this footprint awards category, but also one runner up recognition: Social Impact and Diversity for Nestlé and NP Inclusion & Belonging programmes – along with two shortlisted categories: Sustainability in Education for NP’s Toque D’Or competition, and Innovations in Packaging for the Nescafé & Go product.
Congratulations to everyone involved as we continue building on our regeneration journey and making a positive difference to people and pets, planet and communities.
