NESTLÉ PROFESSIONAL TOQUE D’OR® 2023 TERMS & CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials. Entry and claim instructions are deemed to form part of the Terms and Conditions and by entering this promotion all participants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Participants should retain a copy for their information.

The Promoter takes data protection seriously. By entering in this promotion, participants confirm that they have read the Privacy Policy, and agree to these Terms and Conditions of the promotion. By submitting any information required as part of their participation into the campaign, participants agree to their information being held and processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018.

Eligibility

  1. The competition is open to qualifying UK & ROI residents, who are students with a minimum age of 18 and maximum age of 25 years old as of 14th May 2023. Students from levels 2, 3 or 4 of a relevant course such as Catering or Hospitality may enter if they are between 18 and 25 years old by 14th May 2023. Registration opens online at 00:01 on 01.03.23 and closes at 23:59 on 31.03.23.

  2. The competition is made up of six (6) phases as outlined below.  Registered students will be notified of any changes to the competition phases at the earliest possible convenience.

  3. 3.1. Phase 1: REGISTRATION - Timing: Deadline for initial Registration is 23:59 on 31.03.23.

    • To take part in the competition, participants must be a student, *Level 2 or 3 or 4.

    • Lecturers can register any Back or Front of House students on Level 2 and/or 3, or 4, who are between 18 and 25 years old.
    *Levels 2, 3 or 4, or equivalent national, e.g.: Levels 5, 6 and 7 in Scotland

    3.2. Phase 2: ENTRY- Open on 01:01 on 01.03.23 and closes on 23:59 on 31.03.23.
    Location: At your college

    At this initial stage, all students from levels 2, 3 and 4 can enter the competition as part of a learning experience. All students will receive a certificate of participation in Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or 2023.

    Due to safeguarding, only students that are aged between 18 years old and 25 years old (as of 14th May 2023) will be allowed to progress to the HEATS stage.

    FOR ALL BACK OF HOUSE STUDENTS

    TASK: Cook a Sustainable fish dish and accompanying side(s). The fish must be filleted, boned, gutted, and descaled where appropriate.

    Sustainable fish choices*:
    • Haddock
    • Mackerel
    • Trout
    Each competitor should present two portions of sustainable fish and at least one accompanying side of the competitor’s choice, as long as contains 1 of 5 a day (80g fresh fruit/veg/pulses).  competitor’s choice. The recipe for the task and presentation are at the discretion of the competitor.

    *Please note that when sourcing ingredients for the competition to be sure to ask for its provenance to ensure it’s sustainable.

    FOR ALL FRONT OF HOUSE STUDENTS

    TASK: Lay up a table inspired by a theme of their choice and create a coffee drink, (alcoholic or not), inspired by the same theme.

    The theme could be inspired by:

    • An historical era, e.g., art deco

    • Inspiration from music/film/theatre game/sport

    • Cultural heritage, e.g., Independence Day, St Patrick’s Day etc.
    Each competitor should create a table setting for two diners and prepare two portions of a coffee drink. The theme of the table and coffee drink recipe/presentation are at the discretion of the competitor.

    FOR ALL STUDENTS ENTERING THE COMPETITION FOR A CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE HEATS

    Only students between 18 and 25 years old (on 14th May 2023) will be allowed to progress to the HEATS stage, due to the Promoter’s safeguarding policy.

    Students will receive an internet link from their lecturer, on or after 01.03.23, which will give them access to the entry form. This should ONLY be completed by students who are eligible for the heats.

    When submitting their entry, students must upload three (3) photos of the above task.

    Back of house students must take one photo for the mise-en-place, one photo showing their fish knife skills (filleting, boned, etc), one photo of the prepared fish ready to serve on the plate, alongside the side dish.

    Each photo must have a description of maximum of 250 characters. Students will need to name their dish and describe it as if it was on a restaurant menu.

    Front of house students need to take one photo for the mise-en-place (showing all ingredients to be used in the drink), one photo of the finished drink served in a glass of their choice, and one photo of the laid-up table.

    All competitors meeting the entry requirements must ALSO record a 30-second video to help us understand their passion for hospitality and motivation for taking part on Toque d’Or. Competitors will need to upload their video to YouTube and include a link to the video on the entry form.

    The video must start with “I CHOSE HOSPITALITY BECAUSE…” (their own reasons for being in hospitality) followed by “I WANT TO BE PART OF TOQUE D’OR BECAUSE…” (their own reasons for joining the Toque d’Or competition).

    Videos can be recorded from competitors’ phones, and do not require professional production.

    The video needs to be clear, easy to understand and demonstrate their passion. It can be recorded on TikTok or any other video platform and can include props, subtitles, background music etc. The video should be around 30 seconds in length, (max 5 seconds longer or shorter will be allowed).


    All completed application forms MUST be submitted by 23:59 on 31.03.23. Any applications received after this time/date will not be considered.

    FOR STUDENTS AGED UNDER 18 OR OVER 25

    Toque d’Or will award £600 worth of prizes to students who cannot progress to the Heats stage due to age restrictions, and who have submitted their entries by 31.03.23. The judging panel will select the three (3) best Back of House and three (3) best Front of House student entries (their photos and description of the photos), and award each of them a £100 voucher prize to be redeemed at Russums.

    Toque d’Or will also award £200 worth of prizes to the lecturers who enter the highest number of Back of House and Front of House students who are under 18. Each lecturer to receive £100 voucher to be redeemed at Russums.

    These prizes will be awarded on, or after, 17.04.23 after the shortlists for the Heats have been finalised and announced.

    Russums vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash or any other alternative and are subject to Russums’ own Terms of Use which can be found at www.russums-shop.co.uk

    FOR ALL LECTURERS/COLLEGES

     Only students between 18 and 25 years old (on 14th May 2023) will be allowed to progress to the HEATS stage of Toque d’Or 2023, due to our safeguarding policy.

    The college is responsible for sourcing all ingredients; however, colleges will be given a budget of £5.00 per student taking part in this stage for the purchase of ingredients.

    If your students are under 18 years of age (as of 14th May), they do NOT need to create and submit the video task, but they must still upload the 3 photos of your Back or Front of House task so we can send them a certificate of participation.

    If your students are between 18 and 25 years of age (as of 14th May), they must upload the video link and the 3 photos of your Back or Front of House task. You will be marked on each of these tasks.

    Lecturers must ensure that their students submit their entries, so Toque d’Or can refund £5.00 per student entry.

    The tasks must take place at colleges, under the supervision of lecturers.

    The lecturer will receive an email from Toque d’Or on 01.03.23, including the entry form link for the students to submit their entry. The lecturer must ONLY share the entry form link with all students wishing to be considered for the heats, who meet the entry criteria.

    Lecturers are reminded that all completed application forms MUST be submitted by 23:59 on 31.03.23. Please note that there will be no entry deadline extension.

    Completed marking sheets and photograph should be sent to
    toquedor@youreventsolutions.com along with college bank details, to enable reimbursement and for certificates to be printed.

    On Monday, 17.04.23, the Promoter will communicate by email with the 24 Back of House and 24 Front of House shortlisted competitors who will go forward to the Heats and announce their names and college on social media.

    3.3. Phase 3 – HEATS – Timing: 15.05.23 to 18.05.23 
    Location: Nestlé UK Offices, Gatwick.


    The Promoter’s agent and organisers of Toque d’Or 2023 (YES – Your Event Solutions) will be in direct contact with all successful competitors (24 Back of House entrants and 24 Front of House entrants) by 24.04.23 to confirm arrangements for taking part in the Heats. Competitors will be informed at this stage which day they will compete, agree uniform requirements, and discuss any other relevant challenge information. Travel to and from Gatwick, accommodation, and meals, will be organised for competitors.

    The Heats will take place over four (4) days at Nestlé UK offices, Gatwick, Surrey. Competitors will be advised which day and time they will need to attend (either one morning, or one afternoon, per competitor).  All reasonable expenses incurred to attend on the allotted day/time will be covered by Toque d’Or. Competitors will be required to bring their own knives as required to prepare their chosen dish.

    After this phase, 12 competitors will go forward to take part in the Grand Finals.

    Finalists will include six (6) Back of House students and six (6) Front of House students.  All finalists will be notified by social media and email by 22.05.23

    3.4. Phase 4 – GRAND FINALS - Timing: 04.06.23 to 08.06.23 (participants will depart for home on 09.06.23)

    Taking part in Toque d’Or 2023 Grand Finals will give an opportunity for competitors to meet fellow competitors, learn new skills, take part in educational/fun challenges, network with industry peers and have direct feedback from the expert panel of judges.

    All reasonable expenses incurred to attend the Grand Finals will be covered by Toque d’Or. Toque d’Or’s third part agency will contact each finalist to make the necessary travel arrangements and agree what cost elements will be covered.

    3.6. Phase 5 – AWARDS - Timing: 30th June 2023
    Location: To be confirmed

    All 12 finalists, plus their lecturers will be invited to attend the awards ceremony planned to take place in June 2023 venue location to be confirmed. The two (2) Toque d’Or 2023 winners, one (1) Back of House student and one (1) Front of House student, will be announced at the awards.

    3.7. Phase 6 – WINNERS’ TRIP AND SAVOY EDUCATIONAL TRUST AWARD

    PRIZES TO COLLEGES

    Colleges that progress to the Grand Finals and become the winners, will receive a prize fund sponsored by The Savoy Educational Trust. This prize must be redeemed with Russums as equipment for their college.

    £1,000 for each of the 12 colleges in the Grand Finals, being:

    • Six (6) Front of House: one grant per college per strand

    • Six (6) Back of House: one grant per college per strand
    Colleges will only be eligible for a prize from the Trust if they are from different colleges for each of the two categories.

    The winners will receive an extra:

    • £2,500 for Front of House winning college

    • £2,500 Back of House winning college
    WINNERS’ TRIP TO BRAZIL

    • The two (2) ultimate winners will win a trip to Brazil. Winners must be available to travel to Brazil from 20.07.23 to 31.07.23. These dates are subject to confirmation and may change.

    • Due to the tight deadline from the winner announcement to the departure date, all finalists must ensure they have valid passport ready with a minimum of six months’ validity from the proposed date of entry into Brazil and advise the Promoter of any visa requirements.

    • British Citizens do not require a visa to enter Brazil. However, it will be the responsibility of the winners (especially those who do not have a current British Passport) to ensure they have the correct and necessary travel documents and be willing to have any necessary vaccines required to enter that country.

    • Should a winner require a visa the Promoter will cover all reasonable costs.

    • All winners travelling to Brazil will be required to take any necessary tests as set out by the travel protocols at the time. The Promoter will cover the costs for any mandatory tests needed for travel.

    • Travellers must be fully vaccinated. Travellers’ vaccination status must meet the Brazilian authorities’ validity period requirements.

    • Winners will be required to follow all mandatory protocols existing at the time of travel including wear masks etc., except where exempt.

    • Should a winner be unable to travel (including, but not limited to, testing positive for Covid 19 or other variants, or contracting the virus prior to departure) the prize entitlement will be withdrawn. Unfortunately, no cash or other alternative will be available in such an event.

    • The event dates are fixed, and all winners must be available to travel on the stated dates.

    • The Promoter will not be responsible for any loss of earnings due to taking time off to attend the event.

    • The prize includes travel from the winners’ homes to the airport, standard class flights, transfers whilst in Brazil, meals, drinks, nine (9) nights’ accommodation in an individual/single room, entertainment, entry to any attractions or places of interest as included on the itinerary. All expenses as outlined will be covered by Toque d’Or. Any additional costs incurred outside those specifically stated will be the sole responsibility of the individual.

    • In the event of a change in travel protocols and/or the cancellation of the event that is beyond its control, the Promoter will look at alternative prize arrangements.

    LECTURERS:

    Lecturers will need to complete an online REGISTRATION form. Lecturers will be asked to fill a spreadsheet confirming their students first name and surname, what level they are (Level 2, 3 or 4), and if they are Back of House or Front of House.

    Toque d’Or will provide the student ENTRY link to lecturers. Lecturers will be required to share the ENTRY link with nominated students. Once students receive the entry link they must fill with their own details and opt in to be contacted directly by Nestlé Toque d’Or and its agency YES.

    Nominated students will be required to complete the online entry accessible via a link they have received by no later than 23:59 on the 31.03.23. There will be no extension available to this deadline, regardless of the reason for failing to complete the online entry form by the stated date.

    • Students will be required to complete the entry tasks as outlined above. Nominating lecturers should ensure their students have sufficient notification to allow them to prepare for the tasks.

    • As part of the entry process, students will also be required to submit a video of themselves as outlined above. Lecturers must ensure that students are advised in good time to allow them to prepare their video.

    • From this point the Toque d’Or® team will require an opt in from the competitor themselves to confirm that permission has been granted to speak directly with those selected students via email to give them all necessary instructions relating to the next phase of the competition (the HEATS).

    • The Toque d’Or® team will choose the students to go through to the HEATS based on their entry photos and video scores.

    • Once the Toque d’Or® team have selected the students to go to the Heats, Toque d’Or® will notify the qualifying students and lecturers concerned.

    • A third-party agency acting on behalf of the Promoter will contact the selected students in order to ask further questions, such as a suitable address to send deliveries to, their size to send uniforms, etc.
  4. By taking part in the promotion, the winners agree that the Promoter may contact them to ask whether they want to participate in marketing activities relating to the promotion.

  5. By providing an entry, each participant grants the Promoter and its agents the right to publish, use, reproduce, distribute, make available, edit and/or modify the entry including recipes, in any way, in whole or in part, in commerce and in any and all media worldwide now known or hereinafter developed, in perpetuity and without consideration or notice to the participant. Providing any entry further constitutes the participant’s transfer to the Promoter of any and all rights, title, and interest in and to the entry and the entrant’s likeness, including, without limitation, all intellectual property rights.

    DATA PROTECTION/PRIVACY POLICY

  6. Subject to Nestlé’s Privacy Policy, the surnames and colleges/venues of verified winners will be available upon request by sending an email to: toque.dor@uk.nestle.com. with the subject line ‘WINNERS LIST: ‘Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or® 2023’ for a period of three (3) months following the end of the promotion. If any winner objects to their information being published, then they can contact us by emailing UKI.Dataprotection@uk.nestle.com with the subject line: ‘Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or® 2023 Promotion’.

  7. Data Protection: The Promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the promotion and the auditing of the entries where necessary and for no other purpose, unless we have your consent/you have opted-in to receive future marketing communications.  The surnames and colleges of verified winners will be made available as set out in Clause above and winners can object to this by emailing UKI.Dataprotection@uk.nestle.com . Otherwise, your personal details will at all times be kept confidential and in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 as applicable. You can request access to your personal data, have any inaccuracies rectified or request deletion of personal data by sending an email to UKI.Dataprotection@uk.nestle.com . By participating in the promotion, you agree to the use of your personal data as described here. You can withdraw your consent at any time. For the purpose of this promotion, requests to delete personal data can only be actioned after the promotion has concluded. Personal details entered on the Nestlé website will not be shared with any other third party.

    GENERAL

  8. Limitations of liability: Neither the Promoter, its agents, or anyone professionally connected to the Promotion, assume any responsibility or liability for:

    • Any for any faulty or failed electronic data transmissions.

    • Communications line failure, regardless of cause, with regards to any equipment, systems, networks, lines, satellites, servers, computers, or providers utilised in any aspect of this Promotion.

    • Inaccessibility or unavailability of the internet or the website or any combination thereof.
  9. Incomplete, illegible, misdirected or entries received outside any promotional period will not be accepted. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of delivery. The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries delayed, incomplete or lost due to technical reasons or otherwise.

  10. If, for any reason, any aspect of this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter may in its sole discretion modify or suspend the promotion or invalidate any affected entries. If an act, omission, event, or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these Terms and Conditions the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligation but will always endeavour to minimise the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.

  11. If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid, or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these Terms and Conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.

  12. The Promotion and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by the laws of England and Wales and any disputes as to the meaning of these Terms and Conditions will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the participants’ local courts.

  13. In the event of circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control and only where circumstances make this unavoidable, the Promoter and those partnered with the competition reserve the right to cancel or amend the competition, or these Terms and Conditions, at any stage but will endeavour to minimize the effect to entrants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
