  1. Why didn’t I get a saving using this calculator?

It is possible that your scratch-made stocks are cheaper than our CHEF® All Natural Stock range. As with all products, prices do vary due to costs of ingredients and amounts used. Please try again with a different stock or re-adjusting your quantities to see how much you could save.

We will only show you your saving if it is over £500 per year, as we consider the daily savings negligible if the yearly saving is lower.

  1. The saving I got from this tool was very low. Why should I switch to your products?

Besides the cost benefit, our All Natural Stocks deliver intense flavours instantly and consistently. Removing the amount of food wastage caused by preparing a scratch made stock. 1. Where do the prices in your full breakdown list come from?

The CHEF® Stock Savings Calculator uses publically accessible data in order to produce the savings estimate you receive.

The data we use comes from trade suppliers, government websites and energy suppliers.

  1. How does the calculation work and how are you calculating?
  • Price

Prices are calculated from price lists we have obtained from publically accessible data, we then calculate the minimum unit volume and multiply by the quantity you entered.

  • Energy Costs & Cooking methods

Energy costs are taken from the Government’s published energy prices per non domestic sector gas and electricity prices.

Cooking methods are calculated by multiplying the kWh energy rating for the cooking appliance by the Government’s published energy prices per non domestic sector gas and electricity prices.

  • Waste

Prices are calculated using cost per kg for commercial bin bag collections, this is then multiplied by the quantities of ingredients that you entered.

Within your quantity of ingredients we assume that 100% of meat bones and only 80% of vegetable volumes are wasted.

  1. I use a different meat, ingredient, cooking method that isn’t listed

Our All Natural Stocks are designed as a base product that enable you to enhance the flavour with your signature touches to complete your recipes. Therefore all the ingredients you use when creating a stock may not be listed.

  1. Are your stocks sustainably sourced?

We have sustainability at the heart of our production facility in Juuka, Finland. From waste that is recycled into compost, fertiliser and biofuel, to solar power energy to power our machines, we're using a number of ways to reduce carbon emissions and the protect environment while still making a high quality product.
